I have had several requests from wards, branches, and FHCs along these
lines:
"We had an inquiry into the purchase of Microsoft Word and Excel for
installation onto the unit's system. It seems I heard not to long ago that
the Church did not approve of this. Can you give us some guidance on the
subject."
My typical answer is:
"Absolutely! Wards and stakes may not use budget funds to purchase software.
The Church has already installed OpenOffice on your unit's computer, so
please use it. On the other hand, if someone donates a legal license to use
MS Office to your unit, then you may use it."
I welcome your opinions.
