Robert (w5aj90):
Our local PM/FM group said the boss in the DFW ivory office says no way
to the MLS computers connecting to the FHC DSL. His word to our Stake
was no OK from SLC and we can not tie into the box.
_______________
Your best source is a message with the subject Desktop Image 5.5 from
MLS Support to Stake Technology Specialists on 1 Mar 2007.
That message stated the two requirements that must be met for MLS to
connect through the CCN. (1. Secure Desktop 5.5 Image installed. 2.
Located in the same physical building as an authorized Church
Communications Network (CCN) with a Church provided hardware firewall.)
The message said you will need to contact your Facilities Manager to
verify whether your unit has an authorized CCN with firewall. (A
building with an authorized FHC should have this.)
The FM group must approve of physical changes to the building (if
needed). The message discusses who pays, FM if funds are available, the
stake if not.
I would verify that you have a proper CCN and firewall, then do the
installation myself using the help of Global Support. This works
especially well if the building was originally set up with a wireless
configuration. If you need to run actual wires, you will have to get FM
involved.
